. this is what san francisco is about. we have an incredible committee of people that have volunteered and put forth i want to be part of this team effort to, build a bay area super bowl event that will be not only long lasting for the sports itself but with daniel's leadership and supervisor feral that's been such an incredible partner in the dialogue to help us form our ideas. and for somebody who's spnt his personal time creating the educational links between our school district and kids and parents, to created a decisional open space in private efforts, we have the right team. today, in concert with mayor mathews and mayor reed with people in business, philanthropy, academia coming together, certainly under the very large umbrella of wanting and wishing and making sure this is the most philanthropic event the world's ever seen. it is appropriately hosted in san francisco. i have often heard when something happens in the city they want it to city. when something happens in san francisco, we want the whole world to know about it. this is a stage. super bowl will be a stage we want to announc

and from a loss to play like we did this is my club. i cannot haveer o san francisco's civic center to watch the giants with the tigers. fans were watching, waiting, expected to land hoping for it when they were not disappointed. the crowd exploded in their war when sergio romero through the final strike and the bottom of the tent. someone in the crowd marched fireworks everyone was hugging celebrating. it was incredible to see it was not just at the civic center plaza also at the marina district and every corner in san francisco around the bay area in public bars. the celebration did not stop there it moved out into the streets. chestnut street to be specific where people wait giants last and cars or honking their horns. it was pandemonium in san francisco. >> how big is this for the city of san francisco. this is also does,. this is of come! is also does,. this is of come! for the second time in three years. and the fans, they went wild filling the streets of san francisco. right now at 11:00, we have complete coverage of game four with live reports from the motor city to the city by the bay. and you are looking at live pictures from our nbc bay area helicopter over san francisco. the celebrations are far from over. what you can see here is, this is actually outside of at&t park at third and king streets in san francisco. as you can see, there are several small fires in the street. we have seen one or two cars tipped over, as well. few people getting out of control. for the most part, these celebrations are relatively peaceful tonight but as you can see there are a few small fires in the streets of san francisco right now. good evening. i'm diane dwyer. the giants are now world series champions. they pulled off an unbelievable sweep tonight. you could hear the roar after the giants made their final out right there. the fans are celebrating and so are the players from detroit to the bay area. thousands of people did spill in to the streets, as we mentioned, cheerin

of the many exciting studies that we have as well as our partnership with san francisco city clinic in launching the first demonstration project of pre-exposure prophylaxis, taking antihiv medicines to prevent new infections. we're studying topical gels, retro microbicide. the way we're going to end this epidemic is through a vaccine, we've controlled other infectious diseases through a cure. we're proud of our staff who contribute to this as well as the many study participants. and i'm just going to close with a quick word about the project. the way that this project came about was actually one of our staff members, janey vincent who is our graphic designer, you'll see some of her beautiful work inside, noticed that there was -- she's hiding. -year resident here in san francisco. when i first moved here only a couple months after i got here i was accuweatherly able to sell my car and get rid itv because of the transportation options available here in the city particularly because of the car sharing program. * actually so, i think having a really good mix of transportation options in the city is really, really key to having a good city. and i think that therenter car share programs are awesome, but different from the one way trip car sharing program. i was recently in portland and got to use car to go for the first time it was a great experience. partially because of the way the billing works. it's done by mile a minute as opposed to others like zip car or city car share where we do it by the hour or by the day. instead of being a lot more economical, i think it's something like $7 in portland having to use car to go three times. overall, about the economical mix of transportation offer, it's really good. just having things like private shuttles or car sharing programs or muni and biking, you know, help. if we can make an even better san francisco. we have two other supervisors who may be coming later. we're all part of the initial group of policymakers at city hall who want to hear news views and ideas on the new collaborative economy. we're interested in it because it has aspects that have piqued our interest, about hoour environment, how to improve life for more people, how to make an expensive city more affordable to more people, how to utilize the strengths of the city as a great tourist city. how we can get more folks to come and experience the wonders of the city. maybe they will make their stake here. these panel members have decided to make their stake here. they risked reputation, may be small amounts of money. if they had a lot of money, they may not have had to start this. they have also done it for the right reasons. they want to experience the city in a different way, but one that is in the tradition of san francisco and is reflective of mine, welcoming more people to share in the economy. hopefully the right reasons will create more jobs and get more entrepreneurs involv

fell short of reaching. >> people were very happy in san francisco but in some parts of the city the victory celebration turned into and ugly scene. >> we begin with ali. >> reporter: fortunately it was the kinds of damage that was eltifl easy to clean -- relatively easy to clean up. if you look here in the middle of the street, you can see a pile of garbage still out in the middle of the street. that was the burnt out contents of one of the many dumpsters that was lit on fire an on this stretch of road. so far, there are no reports of any businesses damaged in the mission neighborhood. this intersection, you can see open to traffic but it was a very different scene here a few hours ago. police lined the intersection of 16th and mission early this morning. they set up a command center of sorts, a lot of vehicles and a hundred officers at that intersection. we saw police make some arrests. and this was after fans and rowdy crowds set several dumpsters on fire in the middle of mission street. some of those dumpsters kept flaring up and smoldering for hours. >> we started around 24

to supplement their incomes nights and weekends. san francisco is an extensive place to live. if they could make a few extra bucks on the side to help supplement their rent, then all the better. we have this amazing group of retirees that love the idea of staying active, helping other people in their community, so we look for a wide variety of individuals to get involved in the network. one story i will share is up a woman named amy. she posts on a monthly basis and hires a group to go out with her to the tenderloin in san francisco and help feed the homeless. it is something she is incredibly passionate about, and she realizes the network as a resource and to offer support in fulfilling that passion. there is just story after story about the ways that we are engaging all levels of the community, and it is really exciting to see the type of community-building that can happen when you connect people in a neighborhood. >> sharing is not a new idea. it has been around for a long time, but something all our companies have in common is we use technology -- in our cases, an online platform -- that act

, the reason that we got behind raising awareness about the launch of that program in san francisco is it's unique in that it added 50 plug-in electric vehicles to the suite. so, that was an unusual development for a car sharing company. because they're a private company, we aren't tracking the success and don't actually have any control over that program. really from our perspective the compelling component was those 50 electric vehicle plug-ins are added to our space and are available to you. >> in terms of value, the the city gets urban bragging rights, we have the electric car? >> the intrinsic value, additional options for peep to access the vehicle if they don't want to buy one themselves. it's the addition of adding to the fleet and the options. >> can you talk to me about the geographic location and where this is happening? got him looking. and the giants have won it all. >> san francisco giants, number one, baby. number one. i knew it was gonna happen. >> for the second time in three years, the san francisco giants ruled the baseball world. they sweep the detroit tigers four games to none. and here is a live look from sky 7hd above san francisco where people have filled the streets celebrating the giants' second world championship in the last three years, as we said. again though you can see a fire burning there, a bonfire. earlier sky 7hd captured these pictures of the celebration turning dangerous in the mission district moments after the game ended. a crowd cheered as the bonfire you see grew a few feet from stores and apartments. the fire burned for several minutes before police riding dirt bikes moved in and cleared the crowd from the flames. and take a look at this bonfire at mission and 19th. sky 7hd caught people jumping into the flames and others were throwing gasoline creating some of the huge fireballs you saw. certainly some dangerous conditions out in parts of san francisco right now. an

of the university of california san francisco community partnership's fourth annual partnership's celebration. this took place on october 18th and i am pleased to announce that two of our collaborations were honored that evening. the first of which was the learner and community partnership award, which went to our physical education partnership and that is comprised of the pd department, shape up san francisco and our lead department. they were awarded for forming a pe advocates team that examined the quality and quantity of the pe offered in the san francisco unified school district. we were also recognized for our partnership for our staff award and this went to a program called enhancing young woman's health through university partnerships. it is an innovative program, it is a 12 partnership between ucsf woman's health and usfd school health and wellness centers. i want to thank all of the staff members and all of the staff members from ucsf from their collaboration and particularly to claudia, and steven. speaking of partnerships i would like to call your attention to one of our strongest
